Mike Sando (ESPN.com) tweeted today that John Clayton (ESPN) says that Brian Westbrook is "likely" to sign with the Rams Monday. This is a mild surprise (to me) because San Francisco figured to be an interested bidder for Westbrook after Glen Coffee's shocking retirement announcement earlier this week.
If the Rams do come up with Westbrook, though, and he's healthy, (MAJOR IF), wow, would they have themselves a fine third-down type back and credible RB who can take the load if Jackson goes down.
Unless you take this as a sign that there are sudden doubts about Jackson's back, which I don't, this ranks as exciting news for everybody at Rams Park. Not named Kenneth Darby.
