Camp news: 8/4

Today's schedule: one practice, from 2:00 - 4:30.

Injury news: the first significant injury of training camp has come down, naturally, on one of the team's thinnest positions. Cornerback Ron Bartell was carted off last night after rolling his ankle. More won't be known until he has it x-rayed, but he seems very likely to miss a good chunk of training camp.

Update: Bartell is expected to miss 1-2 weeks.

If there's a bright spot in your ersatz #1 corner missing time, this will give extra time to big young corners Bradley Fletcher and Jerome Murphy. And nickelback Kevin Dockery has been one of the best-reviewed players of camp, so the Rams have him to step up as well.

Chris Hovan participated in only one practice yesterday to rest his injured back. Since they're letting him practice at all, I'll leave him off the list. Darien Stewart has returned to the field and comes off the list.

The injury list: Ron Bartell (ankle, out), Mark Lewis (ankle, out); C.J. Ah You (hamstring, out); Darell Scott (hamstring, out); Marquis Johnson (knee, out); Jason Smith (toe, limited); Roger Allen (knee, limited).

Camp visitors: Charlie Casserly, and perhaps a portent that this is going to be a hair-raising season - Don King. Personally I'm hoping Vince McMahon will visit tomorrow, or Dana White.
