Camp news, 8/23
(from local reports)
Today's schedule: one practice, from 2:30 - 4:30. Tomorrow's practice, the last one of camp, is also at 2:30.
Roster moves: The Rams signed Mizzou WR Danario Alexander last night; I'll try to get a RFA profile for him up this evening. IF Alexander's knees hold up, he could be a heck of a signing. Good luck to him; the Rams need all the WRs they can get, since Saturday night, they appeared to have none. Maybe Danny Amendola.
The team's expectations are just a little on the low side for Alexander, though. Billy Devaney says "If he [Alexander] can contribute some time this year - great." This year? The way this WR corps looked Saturday night, Jason Alexander could contribute this year. Another tell that the Rams may not rush Alexander along is who they cut to make way for him: Brooks Foster, who spent last year on I.R. Kind of makes you think they're just going to stash Alexander somewhere this year, whether I.R. or practice squad.
Injury updates: A.J. Feeley's the most notable one right now, with elbow and thumb injuries suffered in that UNCALLED late hit by Browns LB Chris Gocong Saturday night. His x-rays were negative, and he says he expects to start Thursday night against New England. The rest of Rams Nation seems pretty sure Sam Bradford will get the start. Guess we'll see. Dominic Douglas, Victor Adeyanju, Marquis Johnson and Daniel Fells incurred injuries during the game that were enough to slot them to day-to-day status.
Josh Brown's obviously off the list, having kicked 4 FGs Saturday night, though I'd be willing to put him back on it for a tired leg. Kevin Dockery and Justin King are expected to practice today and also come off the list. Jerome Murphy and Kevin Payne also have a chance to return to practice today, so the list will be updated as news filters out.
Injury list: Victor Adeyanju (ankle/knee); James Butler (knee); Dominic Douglas (hamstring); A.J. Feeley (elbow, thumb); Daniel Fells (hyperextended knee); John Greco (pectoreal); Marquis Johnson (shoulder); Brandon McRae (ankle); Jerome Murphy (ankle); Kevin Payne (knee); George Selvie (leg).
Anyone else starting to forget that Greco's even on the roster? How 'bout Butler?
