Jeff Fisher will be introduced as the new head coach of the Rams this afternoon. Fisher's contract is said to be for 5 years and in the $35 million range.
The report from Howard Balzer is that Gregg Williams agreed to join the Rams as defensive coordinator yesterday. Brandon Fisher and Blake Williams are expected to join the team in some defensive assistant capacity. If those last names look familiar, you get the star. One of the big reasons Fisher left the Titans was that owner Bud Adams wouldn't let him hire his or Williams' kid in the past.
But contrary to NFL Network reports over the weekend, Brian Schottenheimer has neither accepted, nor been offered, the offensive coordinator position. In fact, Fisher is going to interview former Raiders head coach Hue Jackson for the job on Wednesday. (PFT) Schottenheimer is still considered the favorite.
So far then, the Rams coaching staff is set to be composed of Jeff Fisher buddies, their relatives, or the relatives of other coaches. Is this a coaching staff or the Jeff Fisher Friends and Family Plan?
Jackson's other big failing for becoming a Jeff Fisher OC may be the lack of the word "heimer" in his last name. Fisher will have gone from the late Mike Heimerdinger to a Schottenheimer.
Other rumored OC candidates: Dr. Ruth Westheimer and John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
