Rams report, 1/9: Coaching search continues

Not taking any chances on Jeff Fisher's decision, the Rams, according to Jim Thomas, have lined up an interview with Broncos defensive coordinator Dennis Allen on Thursday, as they continue to choose candidates I don't know why they'd consider at this time.

Like Ray Horton, Allen is in his first season as an NFL coordinator. The previous five years he was with the Saints as secondary coach and line coach. He's just 38 and has no head coaching experience at any level.

Allen's coached in the league nine years, and the Broncos installed a very successful 4-3 defense this year after having played the 3-4 for years. The Broncos finished 2011 4th in overall defense (yards); 4th against the pass, 5th against the run.

But I see little reason for this franchise to continue to go down the inexperience route with head coaches. We've got 23 wins in 6 years waiting for coordinators to figure out how to be head coaches on the job.

Insanity = doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Right?
