Rams report, 8/4

The Rams have a morning walkthrough today followed by an afternoon practice open to the public at 1:50. It's unclear right now whether the veteran free agents signed will participate. The CBA still had not been officially ratified at last word. The latest hangup is that the players want to take commissioner Roger Goodell's free reign to hand down punishments away.

* Best of luck to Laurent Robinson, who has signed a deal with San Diego and is actually being looked at as a possible #2 wideout there. I don't know about that, since I doubt Robinson would even have been as much as a #5 here, but he's a hard worker, a willing blocker, and he's due some good luck after his time here got messed up early on by a freak injury. Rams UFAs Adam Goldberg and Gary Gibson remain unsigned at last word, along with Kevin Dockery, Michael Lewis and Cliff Ryan. Goldberg appears to be about the only one of those five with a chance of returning here.

Update: the Rams re-signed Gary Gibson earlier today.

* Mark Clayton's also still a free agent, I think. There are conflicting reports all around the interwebs regarding Mark. Reports from ESPN.com and Jason LaCanfora on NFL.com say that he's signed with the Giants. The Giants did sign Michael Clayton, the former Buccaneer receiver. Have they also signed Mark? It doesn't look like it, since only Michael is listed on the Giants' on-line roster. Confusion reigns here, but all indications are that Mark also is still a free agent.

* Other ex-Rams making moves in free agency:
- Brian Leonard re-signed with Cincinnati.
- Cincinnati also signed Bruce Gradkowski.
- Damione Lewis re-signed with Houston.
- Randy McMichael re-signed with San Diego.
- Scott Shanle re-signed with New Orleans.
- Shaun Suisham re-signed with Pittsburgh.
- The Jagwires signed Matt Turk.
- Philadelphia signed Anthony Hargrove.
- And, inexplicably, New Orleans signed Alex Barron. If that guy plays here October 30th and does NOT false start, we riot. The other half of that trade, Bobby Carpenter, re-signed with Detroit.

* In other ex-Ram news:
- Hyphen Jr., Jimmy Saddler-McQueen, was picked back up by Dallas.
- K.C. Asiodu re-signed by Green Bay. The Packers released Brandon Chillar earlier.
- Minnesota released Jimmy Kennedy.
- And, of course, Marc Bulger retired.

More important updates like those as they occur.
