David Vobora released

ESPN 101 locally reports that linebacker David Vobora has been released. (Check the previous post for some rare RamView eerie prescience.) STLToday says Vobora was cut to make room for Ben Leber: not roster space, but salary cap room. After you adjust the current online roster to account for Leber, Vobora and Jared Jenkins, the Rams only have 87 players.

Vobora could have been a nice complementary piece in the Rams' defense. He's been kind of the Adam Goldberg of the linebacking corps in the past. He's got starting experience, and he's an above-average special teams player. The good news is that there's still a lot of preseason left for him to catch on with another team. Among other teams, he has links to Detroit, since Scott Linehan drafted him, and to Washington, since he played for Jim Haslett.

Best of luck to David in his NFL future.
