Rams news, 4/4

* Torry Holt officially retires today; check stlouisrams.com for highlights from the press conference.

* Torry isn't all that's retiring at Rams Park. When the NFL and Nike released new uniforms for all 32 teams yesterday, the Rams retired the gold pants. (They've been cheating on a league rule that you're only supposed to have two different colors, throwbacks not included.) Yes, they're getting rid of the best-looking of the three. God knows we all want to see a lot more of their "giant blueberry" look. Just blue or white pants from now on. The only change I noticed to the new uniform is that the collar of the jersey isn't gold all the way around, just the back half.

And btw, even the giant blueberry look beats the awful crap the Seahawks are going to model next season. Just when you thought their uniform couldn't get any worse, they top themselves. Where did they find the font for their numbers, the credits of a bad science fiction movie? Also, we need Roger Goodell to place a ban on neon green alternate jerseys NOW before the Seahawks decide to go totally Oregon Ducks on us.

* The preseason schedule will be released later today. Now that Jeff Fisher is here, let's hope the Rams draw opponents who aren't good at defending fake punts.
