Rams report, 1/14

No word whether Rob Ryan has returned from the beach or not, but there are a lot of ex-Rams coaches in circulation right now to track:

* Mike Martz has interviewed for the open offensive coordinator job in Oakland.

* Lovie Smith has been interviewed for the Eagles' head coaching job, is going to interview for the Chargers' job and was interviewed by the Bills prior to their hiring of Doug Marrone.

* Pat Shurmur has interviewed for the Panthers' OC position, but the rumors around him are more fun. The Jets are believed to be considering him, which would mean that two years later, he and Brian Schottenheimer basically just traded jobs. He is also rumored to be on Detroit's list should the Lions dump Scott Linehan. They haven't yet, but they did just shake up the rest of their offensive coaching staff.

* Greg Olson and Sylvester Croom figure to be looking for new jobs after Jacksonville's firing of Mike Mularkey last week. Brian Schottenheimer meets with the Jagwires on Tuesday, as will Jay Gruden. The favorite right now, though, is Greg Roman, who's still busy with the 49ers.

Gambling news:
Even though Super Bowl XLVII hasn't even been played yet, Las Vegas is already posting odds on who'll win Super Bowl XLVIII. According to the LVH Race and Sports Superbook,  the Rams are 50-1 to be the team holding the Lombardi aloft next February. Pretty ignorantly, the Chiefs, Browns and Jets are all getting those same odds. New England's the favorite at 6-1, with Denver and the 49ers 8-1. Bringing up the rear, the Raiders and Jagwires at 150-1. For entertainment purposes only, of course.

Player news:
Catching up on my reading, here's Danny Amendola in this month's Gridiron Gateway talking about his impending free agency: "I want to stay in St. Louis, this is my home, this is where I have everything... I love St. Louis; I want to be here. I understand that the business aspect may take guys away from where they want to be and it's something to look forward to, and it's going to be an interesting outcome, I'm sure." Cortland Finnegan has (informally) offered to take a pay cut to help keep Amendola, according to the article.

I was just over on GG's website and they seem to suggest the Rams have $20 million of cap room available, even before they'd have to do anything with Steven Jackson's or Quintin Mikell's contracts. I like that a lot better than the $2 million we've been hearing, but my head is definitely spinning now. Why is there so much variation around the official amount? Finnegan, btw, is the Rams' biggest cap hit for 2013: $15 million.

Ex-Rams player news to close:
- the Packers have signed Joe Gibbs to a reserve/future contract;
- WR Nick Miller, who I believe returned a punt for a TD here last year, has been signed by the Eagles;
- Justin Medlock tried out for the kicker opening in Seattle, which went to Ryan Longwell.
