Last cuts?

DT John Henderson
OT Kevin Hughes
OL Ryan McKee

OK, time to start dissecting these moves.

- There is one move hanging out there right now, and I assume it's to move Mark Clayton to the PUP/inactive list.

- The Rams kept TWO FULLBACKS. But, in awesome news of awesomeness, BEN GUIDUGLI made the team. At least until the Rams start scavenging players from other teams.

- Austin Pettis wins this year's Fendi Onobun Award as the probably-useless player the Rams just didn't think would make it safely to the practice squad. And we've seen how that worked out for Fendi.

- RamView, went a highly-mediocre 20-for-27 predicting the final rounds.

I would have kept:
Avery, Onobun, Foster, Ojinnaka, Selvie, Muir and Atchison.

The Rams instead kept:
Pettis, Brit Miller, Guidugli, Drew Miller, Hank Fraley, C.J. Ah You, Darell Dorell Scott.
* Over/under for weeks Pettis is a game-day inactive: 11.
* The Rams fooled me by barely using Brit Miller in Kansas City. I thought his play merited a roster spot but they got me thinking they weren't going to keep any fullbacks.
* But instead they're keeping two. Or five tight ends, if you like. But congratulations to Ben Guidugli. Kid played his ass off. It's still a long weekend, though.
* Congrats to Drew Miller, too. I just didn't get a good enough look at this summer's backup o-line play. I did think Ojinnaka played well, but Miller's been in the system three years, as opposed to three weeks, has learned the tackle and guard positions, has stuck it out on the practice squad... he's earned it.
* Backup center is the only useful role Hank Fraley can serve, for the second straight year. I think the Rams are taking big risks with Goldberg and Miller as backup tackles when Foster showed good skill at LT off the bench last season.
* Ah You was a coin flip to me with Selvie. I emphasized run defense; the Rams probably emphasized pass rush.
* Scott played his tail off in preseason. Credit to him. I'm still slack-jawed that he stayed over Muir, who he never played ahead of. Apparently the salary cap reared its head there.

What the hell, let's go ahead and see how poorly I can guess the practice squad:
Thaddeus Lewis
Fendi Onobun
Jonathan Nelson
Tim Atchison
Chase Reynolds
Kevin Hughes
Greg Matthews
Ryan McKee

Let's hope it doesn't take too much luck for Lewis and Onobun to slip through.
