RamView, 8/9: Wednesday practice notes

Photo: STLToday
from local reports

* Injury list: Still nothing really serious yet...
- Danario Alexander limited, precautionary
- Brandon Gibson out, leg/hamstring
- Trumaine Johnson out, leg/hamstring
- Kendall Langford out, illness
- Trevor Laws out, knee
- Eugene Sims out, leg/hamstring
- Scott Wells out, knee
- Sam Bradford probable, ankle

In addition, Steven Jackson got Wednesday off. No one returned to action from Tuesday's list, but that list was very short.

* Depth chart news: With head coach Jeff Fisher claiming "he is creating some competition at right tackle," Barry Freaking Richardson worked with the first unit offense Wednesday, and Jason Smith was stuck with the second unit. The assumption here is that Fisher is sending Jason Smith a message. You'll remember when the Rams signed Richardson, this blog said something along the lines of, if he starts at any point in 2012, we'll know the season is already screwed.

Laws' injury has resulted in more reps for Jermelle Cudjo, and it sounds like Cudjo is Matt Conrath's closest competition for DT4. Darell Dorell Scott appears to be on the outside looking in.

* Looking good lately: Harvey Dahl, Isaiah Pead, Darryl Richardson, Austin Pettis (2 TDs today).

* Alumni report:
- DT Teryl White, in Rams camp last year as a rookie free agent, signed by the Bucs.

* Practice Thursday is at 3:30 and is open to the public. Looking more and more like I'm going to Friday evening's practice, provided my wheels are out of the shop by then. Weather's going to be too damn nice to pass it up.
