I see on NFL.com that the Seahawks have hired Pete Carroll to be their head coach and team president. So. They fired Jim Mora Jr. on Friday, flew Carroll in, had a deal with him by dinnertime on Saturday, and we're supposed to believe they had ANYTHING resembling a credible job interview with a minority candidate, as required by NFL rules? They didn't. They did interview Leslie Frazier, AFTER news was already out that Carroll was getting the job. What kind of bull shit is this? Seattle didn't interview a minority candidate when they replaced Mike Humgrum with Mora Jr, either. Why are they basically exempt from NFL rules, when Roger Goodell made it damn clear last year that the Rams couldn't promote Jim Haslett to head coach without interviewing a minority? (Again, the Rooney Rule: best thing that ever happened to the Rams.)
But Seattle should have to follow the rules, too. And credibly, not with a sham interview that Frazier should frankly be ashamed to even have participated in.
With no action from Goodell, the NFL and the Seahawks and Leslie Frazier have made the Rooney Rule an absolute joke.
