2009 team awards announced

The Rams have announced their postseason team awards, voted on by the players. The outcomes of some of these elections were about as pre-ordained as any given Chicago aldermanic race, but here we go.

Daniel F. Reeves Memorial Award (team MVP): Steven Jackson. Duh. That's a vote that even Keith Law could get right.

Carroll Rosenbloom Memorial Award (rookie of the year): James Laurinaitis. Zero surprise.

Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee: Oshiomogho Atogwe. No truth to the rumor that in his
acceptance speech, Atogwe thanked Billy Devaney for cutting Chris Draft.

Carl Ekern Spirit of the Game Award: Leonard Little. The Ekern award represents sportsmanship, work ethic, commitment to teammates and on-field leadership. At first blush, I'm not certain why Jackson wouldn't win this award, too, other than I can't find any recent evidence of it being won by any offensive player. Corey Chavous won it three straight times, so it's not like you have to be any good to win it.

Congratulations to the award-winners.
