Do it, San Francisco, I dare you

The 49ers made an impressive comeback this season under then-interim, now head coach Mike Singletary. They improved to 7-9 and 2nd place in the NFC West. Singletary put his stamp on the team by demanding OC Mike Martz run the ball more, then got rid of Martz altogether.

So, on the cusp of something big, the 49ers are looking for a new offensive coordinator. At the top of that list right now?

SCOTT LINEHAN. The man who ruined the Ram offense and basically hasn't proven he can do anything with an offense that doesn't have Randy Moss.

I dare you to hire Linehan, San Francisco. The fortunes of the Ram-49er rivalry will turn around in a hurry. Trust me, you'll love the "smoke" route 8-10 times a game. You'll love having five TEs on your roster - get to learn about Richard Owens now - and then NEVER throw to ANY of them. You'll love Frank Gore getting stuffed on straight-ahead runs out of single-back sets on third and short. You won't need to reseed the grass in the middle of the football field - your receivers will never run a route there! Again! (Sadly, Linehan will also make Isaac Bruce useless. Dammit. Isaac went to S.F. to reunite with Martz. How about sending him back here?)

Do it, Frisco. Hire Linehan. I double-dog dare you.
