Draft coverage disappointments

I mentioned in an earlier post my disappointment with Scout.com's printed draft guide. Instead of the comprehensive reporting we'd been getting, including full rankings of dozens of prospects at every position, scout.com cut it way back this year and only reported on its top 15 at all positions. This guide'll be disposable by the end of the third round.

But at least they bothered to rank anybody. I've been looking for two weeks for the in-depth draft coverage The Sporting News has provided in the past, and I can stop looking. It's not there. Last week, they just did a piece on a handful of the top prospects at each position. This week, all they did was run a bunch of mock drafts. Hell, any dumbass can do a mock draft. (Proof) (More proof)

Meanwhile, Sporting News provides no list of prospects, no rankings, no War Room draft board. Pretty freaking useless.

RamView's draft coverage for '08 is down to the always fine PFW guide and draft issue, the stripped-down Scout.com guide, and probably the profiles at NFL.com and Rick Gosselin's top 100 players, due out on Friday.

It's pretty criminal that one of the supposedly best sports magazine short-changes its readers on NFL draft coverage this badly.
